Ravi: "I'm just happy, Maya. Amma made payasam! Why are you being so mean?"
Maya: "I'm not mean. I just want silence. Your voice is... ugh."
Amma: "Hmm, that sounded a bit unkind, Maya. What's really bothering you?"
Maya: "My peacock feathers keep smudging, and the chalk dust is in my nose. I’m irritated."
Ravi: "You can say that, but not that my voice is ugh. That feels like you kicked my tummy."
Maya: "I didn’t want to kick your tummy feelings. I just wanted the humming to stop."
Amma: "Then say it in a kinder way. Words can pinch or hug, you know."
Maya: "Okay… Ravi, your humming is nice, but it’s making me lose focus. Can you hum later?"
Ravi: "That doesn’t pinch. That’s fine. I’ll hum when we eat payasam."
Maya: "Sorry for being unkind before. You can help me with the border instead."
Ravi: "Deal. I’ll make tiny diyas in the corners, and only my crayons will hum now."
