Classroom Conversations
Maya: "Arjun, you’re still talking? The bell rang five minutes ago!"
Arjun: "I know, but I have to tell Riya about the ladoos Amma made. They were so soft, like tiny pillows!"
Riya: "See, Maya? He’s a total talker. He even talks while chewing."
Arjun: "Hey! That’s not fair. I just have many important ladoo-updates."
Maya: "Yesterday you gave us important samosa-updates. And cricket-updates. And pencil-shavings-updates."
Arjun: "Pencil shavings are cool. They look like orange flower petals."
Riya: "Madam said we must pack our bags quietly. Your words are jumping all over the classroom."
Arjun: "My words are not jumping. They’re just… stretching their legs a little."
Maya: "They’re running a marathon. My ears are tired."
Riya: "Mine too. I can’t hear my own thoughts about pani puri."
Arjun: "Wait, you’re thinking about pani puri? Now I need to talk about that also."
Maya: "Arjun! Bag. Zip. Silence. Bus uncle will leave us."
Arjun: "But if I don’t talk, my stories will get stuck inside and explode."
Riya: "They can wait till the bus. Or they’ll be extra spicy stories later."
Arjun: "Extra spicy, like the green chutney?"
Maya: "Yes. Save them. Right now, my brain needs quiet chutney."
Riya: "I like that Arjun is a talker. He makes boring days feel like Diwali."
Maya: "Me too… just not during ‘silent reading’ and ‘pack your bag’ time."
Arjun: "So I can be a talker at tiffin time and bus time?"
Riya:talker then. You tell the stories, we’ll listen and crunch our snacks." "Yes. Be our official
Maya: "Deal. But now, Official Talker, press your mouth’s pause button."
Arjun: "Okay, okay… pause button on. The talker will return after school, with very important pani puri news."
