Diwali Card Creations
Meera: "Arjun, stop shaking your leg, I’m drawing rangoli!"
Arjun: "I’m not shaking, I’m… um… dancing sitting-down."
Amma: "Both of you, finish your Diwali cards first, then you can dance all you want."
Meera: "I’m making mine for Thatha. See? Little crackers and laddus."
Arjun: "My card is for Chitti. I’m drawing a cat wearing Amma’s sari."
Meera: "That looks so weird, Arjun. The cat’s head is too big!"
Arjun: "No, it’s perfect. Wait, I’ll add Amma’s big bindi on the cat."
Meera: "And her chappals on its paws!"
Arjun: "And Appa’s moustache on its face!"
Meera: "Pfft— that cat looks like it will shout, ‘Finish your homework!’"
Arjun: "And then it will slip on a banana peel and fall into the sweet box!"
Meera: "Stop it, I’m going to mess up my rangoli—"
Arjun: "—and the laddus will roll away like tiny planets!"
Meera: "Arjun, my stomach hurts, I’m laughing too much!"
Amma: "What is going on? I only hear giggles from this room."
Arjun: "Amma, look! It’s a sari-cat with Appa’s moustache stealing laddus!"
Amma: "Ayyo, this cat is sidesplitting. I can’t stop laughing either!"
Meera: "It really is sidesplitting, Amma. My cheeks are hurting!"
Arjun: "Okay, new rule. If it’s not sidesplitting, it can’t go on the Diwali card."
