Anya and Kabir's Special Talent Day
Anya: "Look, Kabir! I drew a mango tree with Amma and Appa under it."
Kabir: "Whoa, so many colors! But… why did you draw that tiny mole on Amma’s chin?"
Anya: "Because she really has it! I want it to look like our real Amma."
Kabir: "If I show my drawing, everyone laughs at my crooked house. I feel weird inside."
Anya: "Sometimes they laugh at my big ears in my self-portrait too. I still like it."
Kabir: "Today is Special Talent Day. What if nobody claps for my rangoli pattern?"
Anya: "You made it with real rice and haldi! It smells like Pongal at Paati’s house."
Kabir: "But your drawing is better. Maybe I should hide mine in my bag."
Anya: "Hey, don’t. Your rangoli looks like a sun wearing a sherwani."
Kabir: "A sun in a sherwani sounds silly."
Anya: "Silly is good. Silly makes people smile."
Teacher Aunty: "Children, who would like to come up and share their work?"
Kabir: "You go, Anya. You’re brave. My legs feel like jelly."
Anya: "My legs are jelly too, just… mango-flavor jelly. I’ll go if you come with me."
Kabir: "Both of us? What if I drop the plate?"
Anya: "Then the sun will become a scrambled egg. It’s okay. Come."
Teacher Aunty: "Anya and Kabir, come on up!"
Kabir: "Everyone is staring. I can hear my heart louder than the drum in Ganesh Chaturthi."
Anya: "Hold my elbow. I’ll talk first."
Anya: "This is my family under our mango tree. I drew the swing Appa made from an old tyre."
Teacher Aunty: "I can almost feel the breeze, Anya. Thank you."
Kabir: "Um… and this is my rangoli sun. I used rice from Amma’s dabba and colors from Holi."
Classmate: "It looks like the sun is ready for a party!"
Another Classmate: "Yeah! I like the tiny triangle mustache."
Kabir: "They… like it?"
Anya: "See? No one ran away screaming."
Teacher Aunty: "Kabir, you spoke clearly and showed us something special from your home."
Kabir: "My stomach isn’t twisting now. It’s doing a happy dance."
Anya: "You’re standing so straight. You’re holding the plate so proudly."
