Lunchbox Conversations
Anu: "Mmm, your lunch smells so good, Meera. What did your Amma pack today?"
Meera: "Lemon rice and potato fry. And these tiny laddus from yesterday’s puja."
Anu: "Whoa, laddus! Can I have one?"
Meera: "But Amma counted them. She said, ‘Don’t just be a giver, keep some for yourself too.’"
Anu: "So… if you give me one, you’ll have less? I get it. I only have two jam sandwiches."
Meera: "I kind of want to eat all my laddus. I waited the whole bus ride for them."
Anu: "It’s okay. I’ll just smell them from far. My nose can be the taster."
Meera: "You’re so dramatic, Anu! Here, smell."
Anu: "They smell like ghee and Diwali lights."
Meera: "Now I feel bad. You look like a sad puppy."
Anu: "I’m not sad. Just… my mouth is doing a small cry."
Meera: "Fine, I’ll be a giver. I’ll share one laddu with you and one with Rafi. I’ll keep one for me."
Rafi: "What? I was just eating my curd rice in peace and suddenly I get a laddu?"
Anu: "Because Meera is a giver today! She could have eaten them all."
Rafi: "Then I’ll be a giver too. Anyone want some of my banana chips?"
Anu: "Yes! We’re all givers now. This lunchbox feels like a festival."
Meera: "Next time, I’ll tell Amma I like being a giver. But I’ll also say I need one extra laddu for myself!"
